A few years ago, one of my good friends bought me a Bible as a gift. Having been licensed as a minister for over twenty years now, I confess that I wasn’t excited at all over this gift, because I have plenty of Bibles.
So yes, I took this gift for granted.
After days and weeks passed, she kept asking me if I had looked in the Bible. I hadn’t. Then one day she called me, saying, “Dr. Enis, please, please look through the Bible—at least flip through the Bible.”
Later that evening, I flipped through the Bible. And in this Bible, in this gift I had little interest in, there was a check for $100.00!
My point? It’s possible to miss your blessing when you take things for granted.
