As a native of the Chicago area, I'm a big Chicago Cubs fan. Last year the Cubs won the World Series. (Amen!) And as you can imagine, Cubs fans went crazy after they won. In fact, the night they won, I saw a video of a Cubs fan climbing a pole, and then falling backwards into the crowd below, trusting that the people would catch him.
Now, I don’t know if I’d trust another person like that! But I do trust God!
Just as this drunken fan trusted the crowd to catch him, so also you should trust God to catch you. Trust that if you’re lost, God will find you. If you’re hurting, God can heal you. If you’re broken, God can put you back together. If you’re worried, God will give you peace.
In Psalm 91:1–2, the songwriter says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.”
When you feel overwhelmed by the ups and downs of life, you can just lean back and fall into God’s hands, because God’s hands are big enough to catch you.
