A couple months ago, I receive an email from my daughter’s teacher, saying, “This morning Jocelyn told us that you will be going with us on the field trip to Jamestown. I am so happy that you will be able to join us.”
When I read the email, I say to myself, “Huh? I never said that I was going on that field trip! Jocelyn didn’t clear that with me! I got a schedule!”
Nevertheless, even though I never said I was going on the trip, two weeks later I found myself on the road to Jamestown.
When Jocelyn submitted my name as a chaperone without consulting with me first, she showed confidence in what I would do in the future, because of what I’ve always done in the past. I’ve always made arrangements to be a chaperone on her field trips.
In the same way, you can have confidence in what God will do in the future, because of what God has always done for you in the past. God has always been there for you. God has always been your chaperone.
