A few weeks ago, I go to my daughter’s school to drop off her Spanish binder. While I’m waiting in the office for her to come from class, an elderly lady sits next to me.
I don’t know her. She doesn’t know me.
Still, I turn to her and ask, “Ma’am, do you use bleach when you wash your dishes?”
She answers, “Oh yeah.”
I say, “Me too. But lately, my hands have been getting really dry after I wash the dishes. The bleach is killing my hands.”
She says, “That’s because you’re using too much. You’re like my brother. When you walk in his house, you smell bleach at the door.”
She goes on to say, “You’re using too much. You just need a little bit.”
She was suggesting that just a little bit of bleach can make a big difference.
Just as a little bit of bleach can make a big difference in my dishwater, so also a little bit of faith can make a big difference in your life.
In Matthew 17:20, Jesus puts it like this: “If you have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.”
