While cleaning the kitchen one day, I notice a pencil sharpener on the counter. As I pick it up, I begin to make connections between the pencil sharpener and life.
As you use the pencil sharpener, you lose the shavings. You shed the excess. In order for a pencil to be sharpened, in order for a pencil to get its edge back, it needs to lose part of itself.
Similarly, in order for your life to be sharper, in order for your life to be more effective, in order for you to maintain your edge, it’s important that you’re willing to “lose” part of yourself. That is, you may have to let some stuff go, such as bad habits, negative ideas, and poor choices.
