A few weeks ago, one Sunday morning before church, at about 9:00, I’m on a walk in my subdivision.
While I’m walking, one of my neighbors drives up beside me, lets down her car window, and then says, “Pastor, you’re playing hooky today?”
I answer, “Nah. Our service doesn’t start ’til 11:00.”
When she pulls off, the more I think about her words. When you play hooky, you skip out. You miss a day. You make yourself unavailable.
The good news for us is that God never plays hooky. God never misses a day. God is always available.
