Over ten years ago, when I was an associate minister, I would long for opportunities to preach.
One day, after I shared my desire to preach with my good friend Reverend Jamie Duncan, he told me, “Doctor, if you write the sermons, God will give you an opportunity to preach the sermons.”
I took his advice.
I began writing sermons every week like I was a pastor—with nowhere to preach. Six months later, a church called me to be their pastor.
Unbeknownst to me at the time, it was during that period of writing sermons—with nowhere to preach—that God was preparing me for what God had ahead of me.
I am a witness that God will prepare you for what God has ahead of you.
