A few weeks ago, while I’m working on my sermon in my home office, my daughter, who’s in virtual school, shouts from downstairs, “Daddy, the Internet went out!”
I say, “Huh?”
She says, “The Internet is out. I can’t do my work without the Internet.”
Immediately I put my sophisticated technological skills to work. I unplug the modem, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in.
Problem solved!
That brief moment reminded me of the fact that you can’t do online school without the Internet.
Similarly, trying to fulfill your purpose, carry out your plan, or reach your goal without God is like trying to take an online class without the Internet.
In Psalm 127:1, the songwriter expresses this point like this: “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD guards the city, the guard keeps watch in vain.”
