One of my favorite books on writing is William Zinsser’s classic On Writing Well. According to Zinsser, good writing is about rewriting. He observes that most sentences don’t come out right the first time, or the second time, or even the third time.
Likewise, in life, we often fail to get it right in the first draft, or the second draft, or even the third draft. Rarely do we get it right the first time around.
Nevertheless, you must keep on writing the story of your life until it becomes the story that you want it to be.
If you’re not as far along in life as you thought you’d be by now, if things aren’t working out according to your plan, just keep on writing because your story is not over. There’s power in the pen, and the pen is in your hand. Write well.
